Ron Parodi

Prior to coming to work at Junior Jets I served Ruby Bridges Elementary as a teacher, and then for three years as Vice Principal. Before that I taught middle school in Carpinteria, CA, and I taught in the Oakland public schools for ten years, where I helped launch and coordinated a two-way Spanish immersion program.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

My goal in teaching is to help kids see that learning isn't something that is confined to a classroom. My favorite days with students have involved taking them places or showing them things that they did not realize were so close to home. For example, we live on an island, yet many of our students have never set foot on a boat. The Bay Area is so rich with opportunities for young people, and I want to show them just how easy it can be to take advantage of those opportunities.

Personal Note

Alameda is my home school district - I grew up on the island and attended Alameda public schools, as did my parents (and one grandparent!) before me. I love working in and for our community - and being able to bike to work every day!
