Mark Dieter

I have always loved exploring the outdoors. As a child, I watched the squirrels and robins in my back yard with binoculars; set up stations to see animal tracks; even trapped and released backyard animals. I enjoy sharing my fascination about biological systems with others. I began my focus on education before graduating from high school. I have been an educator in various capacities for more than 20 years, working at residential environmental education centers, nature centers, and schools.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

I believe that a good education is a valuable asset and that all members of our society deserve one and need one to be able to participate in and contribute to our community.  I enjoy working with students to make sure that they can take advantage of the educational opportunities that they have.

Personal Note

I have a wife and two young children.  I love nothing more than spending time with them hiking, biking, and exploring the Bay Area and the rest of California.  We live in the West End of Alameda.  My children are attending AUSD schools.   This is my second year at Encinal and I could not be more pleased to finally be serving students in the community I live in.  I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood!
