Alexis Ogdie

I was born and raised in Oakland California where I attended a variety of K-12 schools. I was a scholar athlete, and competed in multiple sports before attending UC Berkeley where I completed my bachelor' degree in 2003. Motivated by a desire to help kids who are having a difficult time, as I did when I was a adolescent, I attended Stanford in 2005-2006 in order to obtain my master's degree and teaching credential. I have taught in a variety of public schools across the Bay Area.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

I believe in an authentic approach to education that utilizes a variety of hands on instructional techniques and project based learning opportunities in combination with more traditional direct instruction methods to deliver historical content that is relevant to the 21st century student.

Personal Note

As a young man, I was faced with a variety of familial challenges and learned to overcome them with perseverance and determination. As an adult, I wish to instill the same type of determination in my students and help them to overcome any challenges they might be facing so that they can experience success in their academic and personal lives.
