Andy Lee

Almost all of my family works or worked in education: my parents are both retired after working for years in Berkeley and Hayward school districts. My wife works at a middle school in Berkeley as a school counselor, and we live in Berkeley with our three house plants.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

I believe in a rigorous, student-centered classroom, in which students are reading, writing, and talking about compelling ideas in English and history. To do this, both my students and I must read regularly, keep open minds, and take on challenges regularly!

Personal Note

I enjoy biking, reading, ultimate frisbee, chess, and playing the piano. Some of these things I do well, others are just for fun.

I grew up in Berkeley, attending Berkeley High. I traveled to Minnesota for college, graduating from Carleton College in 2003. Three years later, I received my teaching credential from Cal State East Bay.
