Background

I was born and raised in Michigan City, IN and attended Indiana University on a swimming scholarship. Go Hoosiers! I have been an educator for 23 years, 14 years as a teacher and 9 years as a counselor.  I have taught and counseled at all grade levels, but high school is by far my favorite! My husband is a Navy Chaplain and as a result I have lived and worked in some interesting places, working most recently for the Department of Defense Schools in Yokosuka, Japan for five years.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

As a counselor, I know that EVERYONE has a story. We learn in different ways, we have different goals, and we will take different paths. I love my roll of helping students define their goals and choose their path, and then supporting them through the twists and turns so they can attain their goals.

Personal Note

My husband and I have two terrific sons, one in college and one in the Navy. This is our first time living in CA and we love Alameda! On the weekends you can find us exploring, hiking, or playing with our new puppy, Shiloh.

Education
