Background

My brothers & I were raised on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, MD.  After college, I moved to New York City and spent a decade teaching, training, and touring in an acting repertory company (SITI). I am still amazed and inspired by the ongoing work of this enduring company. I met my husband in L.A., and we made our way up the coast, spending a bit of time in Santa Maria, CA.  Alameda is a wonderful end to the journey!I was born in San Francisco but grew up in Orange County, California. I lived for a year and a half in Madrid, Spain, the country of my heart.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy

Classrooms are small communities where we have opportunities to practice good citizenship and effective communication.  Language and literature are powerful tools for building empathy and curiosity.  I hope that as we study classic pieces of literature, students can make connections to their own communities and society.  Everybody belongs here!
